Playground set to spring to life

The playground in Barbaralla Park at Springwood is getting a $304,000 upgrade.
Councillor Lisa Bradley says the new playground has been designed with a natural theme to reflect the park’s large existing trees.
‘There will be 4 main playground spaces to cater for different ages and abilities to deliver a fresh new look to this popular park,’ Cr Bradley says.

Work has begun on the project and it’s expected to be completed midyear.
The new play equipment will include large and small climbing towers with slides, a basket swing, a timber sounding drum and native animal spring rockers.
A mixture of bark mulch and rubber soft fall will be placed under the play spaces.r park,’ Cr Bradley says.

Connecting the spaces will be an adventure circuit made up of timber balance logs, large stone boulders and a timber rope run.
A semi-circle pathway loop will surround the new playground and offer seating spaces to accommodate wheelchair and prams and allow parents to sit nearby as they watch their children play.
A picnic space will also be constructed with seats, tables, rubbish bins and a drinking fountain with a dog bowl. It will  be connected to the existing barbecue area via a concrete slab.
