Footy season kicks off

The Ashes are over, the good guys won, so now it’s time for the footy to begin.
Division 7 is home to 4 teams across 4 codes and all clubs bring a sense of community to local suburbs.
The Browns Plains Bears, the local rugby league team, fields teams from under 6 through to the INTECH Open Men’s Division 2 South competition.
The senior team beat Beenleigh in the final last year and it looks like another big season is in store from them.
The Browns Plains Mets are Division 7’s rugby union team in the 15-a-side game, and it plays on the grounds of Browns Plains State School.
Logan City Bears, based at Regents Park, compete in the 9-team Queensland Grid Iron competition.
Meanwhile, it’s all aboard the pirate ship, with training under way for the Park Ridge Pirates AFC youth side.
The Juniors will start training on 17 March 2022.
‘I’d like to wish all our sporting teams the best of luck this season,’ Cr Frazer says.
‘I encourage residents of Division 7 to show their support by getting along and watching a game, or registering the kids to play, as these teams contribute enormously to the community and are all run on the awesome efforts of volunteers.’
