Japanese drive-through opens in Logan Central

A drive-through Japanese restaurant has opened in Logan Central, serving up crowd favourites like karaage chicken and bite-sized sushi.

Mista Boo, named after the owner Boo Jay, is the second restaurant under his belt. The first Mista Boo, located in Bulimba, dishes up sushi rolls and tapas.

Becky Heo, who works in operations, says the drive-through was a lightbulb moment for her boss.

‘He had been seeing customers struggle with getting babies in and out of booster seats,’ she says.

‘We also knew that Wembley Road was very busy, with a lot of hungry workers and locals in the area. When we saw the location, we knew this kind of restaurant would be perfect.’

Mista Boo is believed to be Queensland’s first Japanese drive-through.

‘We’ve had lots of new customers come in and they’re very excited to see a new restaurant,’ Becky says.

‘Boo Jay was right because many of our regulars just drive through. Lots of older customers and customers with little kids don’t have enough time to park and stop.’

The menu features a wide variety of sushi rolls, rice bowls and even aburi – and they’re all just a drive-through window away.

Fresh salmon rolls and chicken rice bowls are the latest best-sellers.

‘We receive fresh salmon every day and make our own batter for the chicken,’ Becky says.

‘We think that’s why people love those dishes.’

Becky says the team is delighted by the local community’s response.

‘We’re working hard to prepare new menus and the next Mista Boo shop,’ she says.

Check out the menu on the Mista Boo website or swing by the drive-through on 114 Wembley Rd, Logan Central.
