Logan’s very own chilli festival

It’s going to be hotter than ever this summer in the City of Logan, thanks to Scarlett Habanero.

She’s the one-woman show behind the Chillogan Chilli Festival, which will be heating things up for the fourth year at Logan Village Green on 20 November.

The festival celebrates all things spicy: chilli plants, chilli-infused dishes and even chilli beer.

There will also be chilli-eating challenges and cooking workshops so you can spice up your meals at home.

‘I just love chilli on everything, and I thought I should start a festival,’ Scarlett says.

‘It also runs in Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sydney but Chillogan is my favourite, ever since the early days, when I was handing out flyers and people were so welcoming and warm.

‘I always get a really nice vibe from people in Logan and since I’m the MC, I get to really connect and engage with local groups.’

Beyond spicy churros and chicken wings, the festival also hosts auctions to support local charities like 4 Voices and Lil Bug Love.

‘The most rewarding part is seeing all the happy faces,’ Scarlett says.

‘We get all sorts of attendees – people who absolutely love chilli and those who get dragged along because of their friends or partner. Everyone ends up having a good time because of the vibe. It’s a crazy niche sort of event.

‘I’m so pleased that I’ve created a brand that people have grown to love. It’s Logan’s very own chilli festival and people here love having something they can call their own.’

To first-time visitors, Scarlett recommends chilling out at the Afterburn Bar to try the famous chilli chocolate espresso martini.
