Christmas comes early at Animal Management Centre

You could have been forgiven for thinking Santa had paid a visit when 3 pallets of goodies were delivered to Logan City Council’s Animal Management Centre last week.

But it wasn’t the man in red – it was Glenda Ferguson and Graham Davies from Metcash, the company that owns IGA, Mitre 10 and ALM.  At the Crestmead-based ALM office, the company has been internally collecting goodies for pets with their staff. They delivered the blankets, toys, cat and dog food and treats in mid-November.

The mountains of goodies will  allow the staff at the Animal Management Centre to hand out extra special treats to impounded animals and ensure our adopted pets go home with some exciting goodies.  And come winter,  thanks to plenty of donated hoodies and jumpers the dogs will be looking very stylish. All were donated by staff as part of a donation drive.

Glenda, who is part of the Cultural and Engagement Committee for the company, says the goodies were donated over a 6 week period.

‘Everyone was really keen to donate, and I was so overwhelmed with the response,’ Glenda says.

‘We chose the Logan Animal Management Centre because we were looking for a great cause. We have our community chest with IGA, which helps a lot of people, so we thought, why not try something for animals?’

Graham says a team filled with animal lovers and Glenda’s energy in spreading the word and promoting the drive led to a huge number of items.

‘Glenda was so passionate about this, and I think that really helped get people engaged,’ he says.

‘Giving back to the community is important to us all, and we really wanted to donate to a worthy cause; the work done here is something that really matters.

‘We love the work that goes on here, and really support the team in what they do. We’re really happy to be able to provide this donation.’

If you would like to donate to the animals, they are looking for blankets and towels year round at the Animal Management Centre, head here to find out more: Pets and animals – Logan City Council
