Cameras help create safer suburbs
Around-the-clock monitoring in Marsden has begun thanks to a new safety camera, while funding has now been approved for 2 others in Crestmead and Berrinba.
A 24-hour camera has been installed outside Marsden State High School to enhance the safety of students, staff and the surrounding community.
As a result of requests from residents, additional safety cameras are scheduled to be activated by the end of the year at the intersection of Bumstead Road and Julie Street in Crestmead and near the intersection of Demeio Road and Anderson Street in Berrinba.
Division 5 Councillor Jon Raven says Council’s Community Safety program ensures live feeds from safety cameras across the city are monitored 24/7 in Council’s camera safety room, in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
‘Our safety camera network supports police with their enforcement and crime prevention,’ Cr Raven says.
‘If there is an area in your neighbourhood that you believe would feel safer if it had surveillance by a safety camera, please contact my office and I will look into it for you.’
