Park Ridge mural officially opens

The water tower at Park Ridge has long been a landmark for people travelling on Mount Lindesay Highway, and a new mural has been unveiled to celebrate 50 years since it was built.

Divison 8 Councillor Jacob Heremaia asked the community for mural ideas for the water tower in 2021 – and plenty were submitted.

‘It was clear that a mural respecting our local and Anzac history was the favourite,’ Cr Heremaia says.

‘The mural is more than just paint; it’s about bringing people together, remembering the past and celebrating our local area.

‘The Council artists did a great job bringing the concept to life.’

The mural was celebrated at a community event in February, which included an Acknowledgment of Country by a local Indigenous representative, an address by Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen, words from the artists and live music by Assorted Grains.

Cr Heremaia says the artwork keeps the Anzac legacy alive.

‘Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this important piece of local infrastructure beautiful.’
