Access to education is easy as ABC
Students in Yarrabilba, and surrounding areas, planning the next leg of their educational journey now barely need to pack a bag.
TAFE Queensland is about to open the doors of its new campus at The Buzz at Yarrabilba, on Basalt Drive.
The state-of the-art learning facility is the next exciting offering at the 6,000 square-metre community services precinct, which opened in December last year.
The Buzz was constructed by Logan City Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, Lendlease and Brisbane Catholic Education.
The Y (part of YMCA) is already operating at the centre.
Deputy Mayor and Division 4 Councillor Laurie Koranski says TAFE Queensland’s arrival will complete Council’s vision for the precinct.
‘From the outset, we imagined this facility as a place where people could connect, learn, earn and innovate,’ Cr Koranski says.
‘I am thrilled to welcome TAFE Queensland to our Yarrabilba community and can’t wait to see more local students benefiting from having high-quality tertiary education closer to home.’
TAFE Queensland General Manager Brent Kinnane says the facility will provide practical, industry-relevant training in hospitality, childcare and business with potential for more courses to be added, based on local demand.
‘By adding our flexible and tailored training solutions to Yarrabilba, we’re helping grow the community by providing a skilled workforce needed to drive economic growth and future prosperity,’ Brent says.
The Buzz is between Yarrabilba State Secondary College, on McKinnon Drive, and San Damiano College, on Yarrabilba Drive.
