Lights help local scouts lead the way
Things are looking brighter for the Marsden Scout Group at Tamarind Park.
A $42,000 upgrade of facilities includes the installation of new floodlights and solar panels as well as the scout den getting a new coat of paint.
The surrounding grounds also have been landscaped.
The project was funded by Logan City Council through the Division 5 Local Infrastructure Program.
Division 5 Councillor Jon Raven says the upgraded facilities will help the Marsden Scout Group continue to strive towards the movement’s motto: ‘Be prepared’.
‘Marsden Scout Group provides a safe and inclusive environment for young people to learn skills that will help them for the rest of their lives,’ Cr Raven says.
‘These new flood lights are LEDs with solar power, which will save money and improve safety for everyone who uses the facility. It’s a win-win.’
Cub Scout Leader Scott Apps says Marsden Scout Group is booming with more than 100 members, from youngsters through to adults.
‘The upgrade is fantastic for the whole group as the new lights allow us to do a range of activities much more safely and enjoyably at night,’ Scott says.
