Stitching together for community spirit
A talented group of retired and semi-retired women are happily crafting up a storm in the City of Logan.
The group, known as Itching to Stitch, has been meeting for 20 years.
They enjoy crafts including sewing, crochet, knitting, cross-stitching and quilting while also catching up for a cuppa and a chat.
The group meets from 9:30 am to noon on Thursdays at Logandale Community Hall in St Andrews Drive, Cornubia.

They are supported by Council’s Community Benefit Fund.
Chairperson Lorraine Steen says the group’s members learn from each other and have developed great friendships.
“We make all kinds of items for donation to charities and hospitals across the city, including toys, blankets, beanies, gloves and bags,” she says.
Lorraine says the group is keen to hear from any charities that could benefit from these items.
Councillor Miriam Stemp encourages those interested in learning more about these crafts and Itching to Stitch to contact Lorraine.
“It is a fun way to spend a couple of hours each week,” Cr Stemp says.
“What I love about this group is their passion to help others by donating their time and using the skills they have learnt over the years.”
Cr Stemp says the group always appreciates donations of unused wadding, polyester wool, fabric or buttons for use in their many projects.
Itching to Stitch will be closed for a short summer break from Thursday, 9 December. They will meet again from Thursday, 27 January 2022.
