Flood markers track river height

As we’ve seen in recent months, the City of Logan is no stranger to flood and storm events.

It’s human nature to want to understand how a current event compares to those in the past.

Tully Memorial Park in North Maclean offers locals and visitors a highly visual way to understand how high the Logan River has risen in the area, with unique flood markers.

The early markers in the park were made from the old timber taken from the Edward O’Neill Bridge when the structure was replaced a few years ago.

New markers have since been added, with indicators including the level of the 2022 floods.

Feature lighting makes the markers particularly striking at night.

The project was funded through the Division 11 Local Infrastructure Program.
