Local artworks brighten hospital rooms

Patients and visitors of the newly opened Logan Hospital expansion can admire some of the City of Logan’s best features, thanks to 15 paintings created by members of the Logan Artists Association (LAA).

LAA president Di Flack says it was an honour to receive the commission from Metro South Health’s Logan Hospital Expansion team.

‘The artists each took on a theme which was inspired by their connections to the local community years of living in Logan,’ Di says.

The canvas paintings have references to the city’s history, flora and fauna, cultural diversity and landmarks.

The artists, including Noel Rogers, Colleen Lloyd, Kristy Flynn, Lyn Gawne and Jamie Brown, recently toured the new wards to see their works take pride of place.

Local artworks brighten hospital rooms Di says they were ‘thrilled’ to help brighten the new corridors and rooms.

The Association, based at Loganlea, was able to purchase paint and canvasses for the commission with funding from Logan City Council’s Division 6 Community Benefit Fund.

Division 6 Councillor Tony Hall says he was pleased to support the project.

‘It’s not always pleasant to be a patient or a visitor to hospital, but these wonderful paintings will certainly provide some comfort,’ Cr Hall says.

The vertical expansion is part of the Logan Hospital expansion stage 1.
