Nature-inspired fun among the gum trees

A spectacular makeover has added even more sparkle to a hidden gem in Boronia Heights.

The playground at the picnic area inside Boronia Bushland Reserve, off Conlan Street, has become a must-do destination thanks to a $1.2 million upgrade.

The works, funded from Council’s Major Parks Program and the Division 7 Local Infrastructure Program, include:

› Custom-designed play tower covered by shade sails

› Nature play area with balance beam and kangaroo statue

› New combination swing with flat and basket seats

› 2 sand diggers and 2 rockers

Three new picnic shelters have also been constructed and the 2 existing shelters have been refurbished.

A drinking fountain with a dog bowl has been installed, along with decorative nature-based art on various surfaces throughout the park. Additional signage has been added.

Division 7 Councillor Tim Frazer says cyclists have been catered for with a new pathway and bicycle rack, while the car entry from Conlan Street has been upgraded with 3 traffic calming devices installed to improve pedestrian safety.

‘This is a beautiful park and playground nestled in natural bushland surrounds,’ Cr Frazer says.

‘Many residents have told me how much they enjoy visiting the Reserve and this upgrade will make the day out even more enjoyable and fun for families, while also providing improved access for bushwalkers.’
