Grand benefits from growing pathway network

Access to the bustling Grand Plaza shopping precinct has been improved thanks to a $3.53 million upgrade to the area’s shared pathway network.

Pedestrians and cyclists will now benefit from new 2.5-metre-wide concrete pathways that stretch from the Mount Lindesay Highway service road along Grand Plaza Drive to Browns Plains Road, and along both sides of Eastern Road through to Waller Park.

The total length of the project is 907 metres of new pathways.

The works, jointly funded by Logan City Council and the Queensland government, include raised pedestrian priority crossings at road intersections, upgraded kerb ramps and dedicated bicycle lanes.

Division 7 Councillor Tim Frazer says the new pathways are a boost for local residents and businesses in the precinct.

‘These works are an important new link in the Browns Plains shared pathway network that ensures greater
connectivity to the shopping precinct, public transport and local education facilities,’ Cr Frazer says.

‘It not only now provides a car-free option for shoppers and commuters, but also delivers a safer route for those who use Waller Park and the surrounding pathways for recreation purposes.’
