Time to rest and reflect
A small gesture has meant the world for 2 local families.
Good friends Les Hobson and Marshall Brown passed away within a few months of each other.
Both men had come from regional country areas and wanted to be buried in the rural setting of Logan Village Cemetery, which is operated by Logan City Council.
Family members approached Council to place a seat in memory of Les and Marshall so visiting family could take time at the cemetery to reflect and remember.
Division 4 Councillor Nathan St Ledger quickly approved funding to purchase and install a timber bench seat at the cemetery.
‘It’s not always the big things that make a difference to people — sometimes it’s the little things,’ Cr St Ledger says.
‘It just made sense to fulfil this simple request that supports these 2 families, and others who might use the bench seat, as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.’
Marshall’s wife Mavis agrees.
‘For those left behind with our memories, it is a nice feeling to know we can visit, have a seat and reflect in such peaceful surroundings,’ she says.
Logan Village Cemetery is on the corner of Waterford-Tamborine Road and Pioneer Drive.
