Pawsome event has tails wagging
Tails are wagging after the latest Paws in the Park event for every dog to have its day – if the pup happens to live in Greenbank.
Precious pooches such as Lola, the border collie-greyhound cross, participated in the annual event held at the Covella residential estate, with some dogs dressed to impress, complete with sunglasses and costume fairy wings.
From a dog park and walking trails to free events and training, lifestyle treats are all part of the plan for the furry family members living at Covella, designed by AVID Property Group and Greenfields Development Company.
The focus on spaces for pets and owners to enjoy the community together is in response to the increase in demand for pet-friendly neighbourhoods, according to AVID Executive General Manager Bruce Harper.
He cites statistics indicating that Logan is set to experience a substantial increase in dog ownership over the next decade, with more than 105,000 pets living throughout the city by 2036, as is reported in the 2023 Animal Management Plan by Logan City Council.
‘Pets are a cherished member of the family and play a key role in maintaining our strong community spirit, encouraging neighbours to enjoy community spaces on daily walks and connecting with other residents over shared interests,’ Mr Harper says.
‘Every effort has been made to create dedicated pet-friendly spaces within the community … in addition to the almost 50 dog parks in the wider Logan area.
‘We also frequently host events to bring both our 4-legged and 2-legged residents together, most recently hosting the annual event Paws in the Park in late July, which saw residents mingle over free coffee and dog treats, while experts shared their best training tips and residents learnt about fostering and adoption in the local area.’
