Two weeks left to have your say on Logan Plan
Time is running out to have a say on the next 20 years of growth and development in the City of Logan.
A nine-week consultation period for the draft Logan Plan – Logan City Council’s proposed new planning scheme – will end on Friday, 31 October.
Mayor Jon Raven says Logan Plan will guide how land can be used and developed in one of Queensland’s fastest-growing cities.
‘We all live in Logan for a reason, whether it’s backyards and big dreams, great parks and schools, community spirit or affordability,’ Mayor Raven says.
‘Council’s job is to work with the community to protect what we love and create opportunities for our city’s future.
‘Logan Plan is the blueprint for where homes, jobs, industry and community facilities will go, and provides guidelines to help us keep our green spaces and sense of community character as we grow.’
Since 1 September, Council has encouraged the Logan community to give feedback on the draft planning scheme ahead of it being refined, reviewed and approved by the Queensland Government for adoption.
Logan Plan includes elements such as new housing options, design guidelines, job creation and rural tourism opportunities.
Around 50 in-person and online engagement events have been held for people to find out what it means for their property, neighbourhood and the city, but there’s still time to get involved.
‘Thank you to everyone who’s already had a say,’ Mayor Raven says.
‘This is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to help shape the city for your kids and grandkids.
‘The best way to make your voice heard is to make a formal submission.’
Mayor Raven says more than 1,000 submissions have been received, with most of them referring to proposed flood-risk mapping.
‘We’ve heard the community’s concerns loud and clear and your Councillors and I are making progress with staff on ways to improve the mapping,’ he says.
‘This week I also met with the Premier and Deputy Premier about the State’s planning policies and we’re now working our way through their advice and suggestions.’
Mayor Raven says Council will record and review every submission and produce a report to outline how each submission was dealt with.
The consultation outcomes will be presented to Council for endorsement in 2026.
Any updates made to Logan Plan will need to be legally reviewed and supported by the Queensland Government before the plan can come into effect towards the end of 2026.
‘Council will keep refining Logan Plan and the way we shape growth with your help,’ Mayor Raven says.
‘Logan’s future is bright because we’re building it together.’
