Upgrade is all about boosting street appeal
Natural colour, cool shade and innovative lighting are among the special features of the next phase of the Fitzgerald Avenue upgrade in Springwood.
Division 1 Councillor Lisa Bradley says the works will help develop a new ‘relaxed vibe’ in the well-used thoroughfare, while also being mindful of the needs of surrounding businesses and residents.
‘This exciting next stage of the Fitzgerald Avenue upgrade will be done with no road closures or night works,’ Cr Bradley says.
‘The upgrade will be low-impact but the final outcome will be spectacular.’
The works include the installation of new bench seating, which will be shaded not only by the existing trees but also new trumpet creeper vines (Campsis radicans), which in
spring are covered in a mass of bright orange flowers.
The area’s night appeal will be boosted with soft up lights added to the footpath pavements. Other landscaping will also be undertaken.
The works will be funded by the Division 1 Local Infrastructure Program.
A start date for the project is yet to be locked in with residents and businesses to be notified by Council well ahead of any works beginning.
