Community helping to shape skate park design

Feedback from the community will help finalise designs for a new skate park in Yarrabilba.

Division 4 Councillor Nathan St Ledger says the new facility will be built in vacant parkland adjacent to the sports fields at McKinnon Sports Park South (corner of Yarrabilba Drive and Woodward Avenue).

It will be funded by the Division 4 Local Infrastructure Program.

Cr St Ledger says community consultation on 2 proposed concept designs was conducted in October.

‘We want to create a play space that’s safe, exciting, accessible and welcoming for everyone,’ Cr St Ledger says.

‘We will now examine the feedback from the community and I look forward to making an announcement in the new year on the final design and construction timeline for our newest skate park.’

The second option is designed with more space for riders to gain speed before tackling a range of moguls, rails and ramps.

The challenges of each obstacle, and the transition to the next one, encourages riders of all ages and skill levels to learn and improve.
