Garage Sale Trail in Logan

Bargain hunters, odds-and-ends collectors and every shopper in between can flock to the City of Logan this month for the annual ultimate Garage Sale Trail.

The nationwide event will be returning to Logan for 2 weekends only, from 8 to 9 November and 15 to 16 November, stretching far and wide across the suburbs.

Local streets are set to buzz with sales as stallholders display pre-loved selections of anything and everything: vintage fashion and designer pieces, board games, books, accessories, homewares and more.

Previous years have seen more than 120 Logan sellers collectively making more than $30,000 and saving 38 tonnes of items from landfill.

Garage Sale Trail general manager Barbara Gill says op shopping and thrifting has become much more mainstream in the past few years.

‘People are looking to find more unique styles and be more sustainable in their shopping choices,’ Barbara says.

‘A garage sale is unlike any other retail environment – it’s a very personal experience in that you’re buying something directly from the owner and learning all about the history of the item before you buy.

‘The thing shoppers most enjoy is meeting new people and the stories they swap.’

Some of Barbara’s most memorable Garage Sale Trail finds include tutus worn by real ballerinas, a first edition Barbie and even old circus props.

Her most cherished garage sale acquisition, however, was a brand-new Jenny Kee sweater, just like the one famously worn by Princess Diana.

While the sweater is usually priced over $600 on eBay, she snagged it for just $20.

Anyone can sign up and register their garage sale on the official Garage Sale Trail website, and can access a free listing on the website, free promotional tools and tips for having a successful sale. Shoppers can also see all the local sales listed near them at the website.

And while you are out on the road, you can also check out some of the best op shops in Logan that are open year-round.
