Community input helps shape better neighbourhoods
Division 7 Councillor Tim Frazer says feedback from the community is important when planning local park and infrastructure upgrades.
‘Getting thoughts and suggestions from local residents ensures facilities that are delivered or improved by Council will be what the community wants and will be well used,’ Cr Frazer says.
Three significant projects in Division 7, funded by the Division 7 Local Infrastructure Program, benefited from community input through Council’s Have Your Say website – haveyoursaylogan.com.au.
They are:
- An upgrade to the playground at Acacia Park in Browns Plains
- A proposed skate park at Ponderosa Park in Hillcrest
- An upgrade to the dog off-leash park in Regents Park to cater separately for large and small dogs
There were 39 submissions received from residents across the 3 projects.
‘This feedback was invaluable,’ Cr Frazer says.
‘In the case of the proposed skate park, 65 per cent of residents who lodged an opinion were opposed to this idea, so we won’t be proceeding with that.
‘I will now work closely with planners and engineers at Council to take on residents’ feedback to finalise the designs for the other 2 important community-based projects.’
