Environmental Health Strategy
Prime time for feedback on community health
The importance of public health has been brought home to City of Logan residents in the last two years as the community has faced the challenges of a worldwide pandemic.
Now, Logan City Council is seeking residents’ feedback on the policies that help keep us well.
Council’s draft Environmental Health Strategy 2022-2026 has been released for public consultation today.
The new strategy, which will replace Council’s Environmental Health Plan 2018-2021, sets out community health priorities over the next five years.
Environment and Health Chair, Deputy Mayor Jon Raven, said the strategy was a proactive approach to improved environmental health issues.
“The health and wellbeing of our community has been Council’s top priority as we have navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic together,” Cr Raven said.
“There is no better time for us to be re-examining the many ways we can improve the overall health of our city and its residents.
“Council wants to hear from as many people as possible so we can ensure the best and most targeted community health strategies are put in place.”
The new strategy examines Council’s range of community health programs and initiatives.
These include food safety, immunisation, waste disposal, water and wastewater treatment, disease prevention and the promotion of active lifestyles.
The strategy also outlines how Council will continue to manage long-term environmental health issues including carbon emission reduction.
Residents can provide their feedback on the Environmental Health Strategy 2022-2026 via the Have Your Say Page on the Logan City Council website.
Public consultation closes on Friday, March 4.
