Outback tour nurtures our next leaders
A recent trip to the Outback doubled as a powerful journey of connection, growth and leadership for a group of teenagers and young adults from Beenleigh and Eagleby.
Their epic adventure covered more than 2,600 kilometres that began at Beenleigh Baptist Church and went as far west as Charleville before heading north towards Longreach.
The group, which also included people from the Gold Coast and Toowoomba, then spent 3 days on a sheep station known as ‘Arno’.
‘The Great Outback Road Trip’ was organised by Scripture Union Australia and was proudly support by the Logan City Council Community Benefit Fund.
Well-known local chaplain Nick Carroll was among 8 mentors who accompanied the group.
‘The trip was far more than enjoying the vast landscapes and bonding together,’ Nick says.
‘These young participants showed they are passionate about their communities and are committed to be a positive influence on those around them.’
Division 12 Councillor Karen Murphy praised the organisers and participants.
‘The trip highlighted that with the right guidance and opportunities, today’s youth are ready to lead with heart, purpose and vision,’ Cr Murphy says.
