Pretty poles add charisma to Ben's street

Nature-loving residents in another Division 10 street can now enjoy 12 power poles that have been painted with nature-inspired murals.

Benjamin Liu has lived in Moogara Street at Shailer Park for 3 years and enjoys walking in the area, including local parks and bushland.

He noticed power poles in some neighbouring areas had been painted with murals (to help with graffiti management) and decided to contact Division 10 Councillor Miriam Stemp to see what could be done in his own street.

‘It is great when residents come to me with ideas to improve the aesthetics of our community and now 12 poles in Moogara Street are decorated with murals of birds and other wildlife,’ Cr Stemp says.

There are 126 poles across Division 10 that have been painted by Council staff as part of Council’s Graffiti Management initiatives.

Benjamin says the murals add ‘charisma’ to Moogara Street.

‘It is a wonderful initiative. These painted poles help showcase the beautiful wildlife we live among,’ Benjamin says.
