Residents jump at activities list

Getting out and active in Division 2 has never been easier.

Division 2 Councillor Teresa Lane says recent promotion of local events in her divisional newsletter has been a hit, with residents calling to ask for more information about the free and low cost programs mentioned.

‘Locals are really keen to join healthy and active programs, be creative and socialise so this list has really energised many into calling to ask for more details,’ Cr Lane says.

‘Amputees Queensland has seen a significant growth in their tai chi, yoga and balance and strength classes, while fitness, social and health programs from the Logan Area Committee on the Ageing (LACOTA) and Logan Elders are increasing their numbers.

‘I’m really pleased the activities are generating a lot of interest from locals in Kingston, Woodridge, Logan Central and Underwood as well as the wider Logan community.

‘To help the centres, I have upgraded our local facilities with new solar generators to make energy costs more affordable for local groups.

‘And these savings mean that programs stay affordable for people of all ages and incomes.

‘Logan City Council also offers a number of low-cost and free activities through our libraries, gallery and event spaces.’
