Smart lighting puts spotlight on Creek Tigers
The new season is looking brighter for Slacks Creek Tigers Football Club.
A recent $700,000 lighting upgrade at the Creek Tigers’ Usher Park headquarters has introduced new technology that will improve safety for players in games and training while creating a better viewing experience for spectators.
Division 3 Councillor Mindy Russell says 11 new poles were erected to support 32 energy-saving LED light fittings, which will help to significantly reduce the club’s electricity costs.
‘The new lights have a switchable mode where the brightness can be adjusted for training or matches,’ Cr Russell says.
‘The entire lighting system also can be accessed remotely via a smart phone or computer which is a huge timesaver for the wonderful volunteers who run the club.’
Tigers vice-president Melissa Cameron says the new lights help celebrate a strong season for the club, which this year had 647 registered senior and junior players.
‘This much-needed upgrade means the club can now host more night games and better utilise more of our fields which we hope will further boost our growth in 2026,’ Melissa says.
The upgrade project was jointly funded by Logan City Council’s Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Program and the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Program.
