Teeing off for charity scores fundraising success
Top Queensland fundraisers for Cancer Council Australia come from the City of Logan.
Participants in last November’s Longest Walk Golf Day at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club raised $52,500 – more than anyone else in Queensland – and were named Australia’s third-highest fundraisers.
Division 4 Councillor Nathan St Ledger says 104 players took part in 72 continuous holes of golf.
‘Nothing is better than seeing community come together and I congratulate everyone on their efforts,’ he says.
Organiser Kevin Dilks says the sold-out event exceeded the original fundraising goal, which meant the club was able to make a significant contribution towards world-class cancer research.
‘The event showcased what can be achieved when a local sporting club, businesses, volunteers and residents come together for a cause that affects so many families in our community,’ Mr Dilks says.
Planning is already underway for the 2026 event in November to make it even bigger and better.
