Finding joy in fashion: why Nicole wants to share her knowledge on the trail

Nicole Corr knows fashion. It’s been her bread and butter since her career began in 1993, – and on Logan’s upcoming Garage Sale Trail, she’ll be sharing her fashion knowledge.

She’s worked for some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, and spent the past few years teaching fashion students the art of designing and making clothes that make the wearer feel beautiful.

‘I grew up around clothes being made – my mum was an embroiderer so I always had an interest in how clothes were made,’ Nicole says.

She worked in Brisbane and then London, before returning to Logan to be close to family.

Now, she nurtures the fashion professionals of the future – and offers some free advice on the side.

‘Friends will often come op shopping with me and I’ll suggest things for them to try on that they would never usually try,’ she says.

‘I can help them see the type of things that might be out of their comfort zone but really suit them.’

That advice will be plentiful when she takes part in the Garage Sale Trail on 12 ,19 and 20 November.

This is a chance for sellers and buyers to meet, mingle, and discover hidden treasures in garage sales across Logan, with many suburbs taking part.

Nicole says she was excited to be involved as she knows the joy of finding that perfect pre-loved item – and the sustainability aspect appeals to her as well.

‘I’ve got boxes and boxes of clothes from when I worked for retail stores, and I like the idea of passing them on,’ she says.

‘I am really saddened by fast fashion and what it means for local designers whose ideas can be imitated and sold cheaply, as well as for the environment and for the fashion industry.

‘Things like this are great because people can find beautiful things, meet community – it’s just a great way to shop and it’s really good that Council is behind it too.’
