New plan to boost creative heart

A vision to support the City of Logan’s creative economy was endorsed this week.

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan 2023-2027 was developed by Logan City Council after extensive consultation with local residents, community groups and cultural practitioners.

One of the first actions under the new plan will be the implementation of the Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) Cultural Precinct’s Artists Development program.

This program caters for creatives involved in drama, dance, music, contemporary performance, visual art, writing and comedy.

Specialist staff from Logan Arts will host a soft-pitch session from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, September 15 at KBF.

The session will highlight the support on offer from Council for emerging and established artists.

City of Logan Mayor Darren Power said the new Art, Culture and Heritage plan would give local creatives the opportunity to share ideas and skills.

“We have developed this plan to spark new collaborations to create distinctly Logan experiences,” Cr Power said.

Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said technology was a key element of the new plan.

“Digital technology will be used to bring art into the community outside of a traditional gallery setting,” Cr Hall said.

“This plan will help guide the services, events and facilities operating within our creative spaces.”
