Billboard technology connects the community

Logan City Council is using a new promotional platform to reach out to the community.

Council has embraced technology from City of Logan firm CAASie.co which allows advisories and advertisements to appear as part of a looping slideshow on digital billboards.

Economic Development Chair, Councillor Jon Raven, said Council could quickly reach and message the community where they live, work and play.

Messages can be slotted into the slideshow of ads appearing on a network of billboards in locations such as service stations, bus shelters, shopping malls, gyms and supermarkets.

“This is basically like Netflix for billboards as ads can be streamed whenever space is available,” Cr Raven said.

“It also allows Council to get messaging to the community quickly and effectively.”

Cr Raven said this new locally developed technology highlighted how Council was fostering grassroots innovation within the city.

“These billboards increase Council’s points of contact with the local community especially for those not connected to digital platforms like Facebook or Instagram.”

CAASie.co is a start-up founded in 2020 and is based in Slacks Creek.

The company is using Australian-first technology which allows clients to bid for space on its billboards when a vacant spot appears and have their messaging appear quickly if their submission is successful.
