Council is here to help

Rates assistance available for weather-affected residents

Help is at hand for City of Logan families impacted by the recent storm and wet weather events.

Ratepayers experiencing financial difficulties resulting from the storms are urged to contact Logan City Council as soon as possible to arrange an interest-free payment plan for the January to March quarterly rates notices, which will be issued to account holders soon.

Mayor Darren Power said Council was here to help anyone struggling with their rates because of the recent weather conditions.

“If you are in this position, we want you to contact us and let us know so we can work with you,” Cr Power said.

“It is important that people do not suffer in silence but reach out so we know they need help.

“We want to ensure that people do not fall into arrears and are supported by Council if they are experiencing genuine difficulties or hardship.”

Council’s hardship policy allows for interest-free payment plans to be arranged with ratepayers, subject to the terms of the plan being met.

Anyone needing assistance can call Council on 3412 5230 during business hours or fill out the online form available at logan.qld.gov.au/financial-hardship-call-back-request
