Election signage amendment

New parameters for election signs

A time limit has been placed on the display of election signage in the City of Logan.

This is in response to concerns being raised about the frequency, placement, and form of election signs.

Local governments regulate election signage to ensure public safety and minimise impacts on local amenity.

For the local government election on March 16 next year, candidate signs can be publicly displayed for 60 days before the election. They must be removed within seven days after the polling date.

Outside of this period, a licence is required to lawfully display such signs.

The amendment to existing rules was endorsed at the final Ordinary Council meeting of the year on Wednesday, December 6.

The amendment follows community consultation where Council received 44 submissions with 88.6 per cent in favour of the change.
