NAIDOC 2022

Free transport for NAIDOC celebration

The City of Logan’s Indigenous heritage will be highlighted and celebrated next week.

The Logan District NAIDOC 2022 will be held at Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) Cultural Precinct from 9am to 2pm on Wednesday, August 17.

The celebration was postponed last month because of wet weather.

Free buses to the KBF will operate from Woodridge Station (8.30am and 11am) and Logan Central Plaza Bus Station, Wembley Rd (8.35am and 11.05am). A return service to the same locations will operate in the afternoon.

NAIDOC 2022 will include a smoking ceremony, traditional dancers, a didgeridoo player,  flag-raising ceremony, food, stalls and children’s rides, music and games.

Indigenous artist Sally Terare will host free artist talks at The Plaza at KBF throughout the day.

City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski said Council was proud to partner the Logan District Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Elders for this celebration.

“This day will recognise and celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,” Cr Koranski said.

“The City of Logan has a rich and proud cultural heritage which plays an integral role in our history and modern identity.”
