National Simultaneous Storytime 2022

Children invited to special story time

Patrons at Logan City Council Libraries will be part of a nation-wide reading effort during the 2022 National Simultaneous Storytime.

The featured book Family Tree by Josh Pyke will be read throughout Australia on Wednesday, May 25 at locations including libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres and family homes.

In the City of the Logan the free Simultaneous Storytime is from 11am at Logan West, Beenleigh, Marsden, Jimboomba, Logan Central and Logan North libraries as part of a Wriggle and Rhyme session.

Greenbank and Logan Hyperdome libraries are also participating from 10.30am.

The goal of event organiser, the Australian Library and Information Association, is to have one million kids involved and reading nationwide.

Family Tree celebrates family, community and the seasons.

Best-selling author Deano Yipadee will also host his popular children’s show at Logan Libraries next week.

Participants can laugh, sing and read along with Deano’s collection of best-selling books, including Nee Naw The Little Fire Engine and Stink-o-saurus, as he takes them on a hilarious comedy
live-music adventure.

The sessions include:

  • Logan North Library: Monday, May 23 (10am – 11am)
  • Beenleigh Library: Tuesday, May 24 (10am – 11am)
  • Logan Central Library – Wednesday, May 25 (10am – 11am)
  • Marsden Library – Thursday, May 26 (9.30am – 10.30am)
  • Logan West Library – Friday, May 27 (11am – noon)

To ensure both events are delivered in line with COVID-safe guidelines, bookings are essential and everyone attending, including parents, caregivers and children, must book a place.

Bookings can be made online at loglib.org/whatson

Both activities also celebrate Under Eights Week.
