Bringing a little luxury to Logan
Saalihah and Sayeed Seedat are a powerhouse Logan couple whose journey from Southern Africa to Australia has blossomed into a story of professional excellence, community impact, and entrepreneurial success.
Since immigrating in 2002, the couple has made Logan their home, raising a family while building impressive careers. Sayeed, a certified practising accountant, has held Chief Financial Officer (CFO) roles across industries including software and biomedical.
Saalihah, a clinical pharmacist, has dedicated herself to improving community health outcomes conducting home medication reviews and notably through her work with My Health For Life, a Queensland Government wellbeing initiative.
‘Education to help people change their behaviours around their health is what we need,’ Saalihah says. ‘It’s not only about knowing what to do, but the how and why, and in language they can understand.’
Saalihah’s commitment to empowerment extends beyond healthcare, and she has volunteered for Share the Dignity and sponsored a National Council of Women Queensland bursary for emerging female leaders from culturally diverse backgrounds.
She’s mentored women through the Australian Institute of Sport and Global Sisters, and her leadership was recently recognised in the Queensland Health’s Women and Girls’ Health Strategy 2032.
In December 2024, the couple planned their daughter’s wedding, determined to create a luxe celebration without overspending.
Their success sparked a bigger vision: helping others achieve stylish, budget-friendly events. That vision became Elysian Event Hire, a business inspired by the word ‘Elysian’, meaning blissful, divine, and beautiful.
‘What began as an idea for a DIY wedding hire service quickly expanded,’ Saalihah says.
‘We realised there was a real gap in the market with few businesses offering high end event hire with a showroom experience in Logan.’
The Seedats have grown their passion project into a thriving business, with a warehouse and showroom at the Southpark Complex in Slacks Creek.
Their curated collection includes luxury decor such as 5-star hotel candleholders and designer candles, backdrops, arches, LED glow furniture, and bespoke centrepieces.

True to their values, the Seedats have launched ‘Second Chance Styling’, a sustainability initiative that repurposes gently-used decor for local charities and community groups.
Their motivation to build the business in Logan is deeply rooted in their love for the city.
‘We’ve lived in Logan for over 20 years and raised our children here. We’ve seen the city grow and evolve, and we wanted to be part of that story,’ Saalihah says.
‘Logan is a vibrant, multicultural community with so much potential,’ Sayeed adds. ‘You don’t have to go to Brisbane or the Gold Coast to find premium services.’
Already employing 2 staff, the Seedats plan to expand their team with local delivery drivers, warehouse staff and stylists.
‘We want to create jobs and opportunities right here in Logan,’ Sayeed says.
‘We’re not just building a business; we’re building a network. We want to grow alongside other local businesses and support the Logan economy.’
