School JETS fly high with partnership
A partnership struck between a Regents Park school and a Logan bank is paving the way as a precedent for boosting student engagement and improving student opportunities and academic outcomes.
It’s all in the form of a sponsorship which began this final term for the Yugumbir State School’s JETS Program.
The Community Bank Logan, a franchise of Bendigo Bank, committed as a Gold Sponsor for the JETS as part of its initiative to invest profits back into the local community.
‘Community Bank Logan has a Community Impact Plan and one of our key strategic priorities is supporting youth in our community with a focus on education,’ Kate Wakeling explains, in her role as Community Bank Logan CEO and Executive Director.
‘The JETS program fits perfectly with our board’s strategic direction, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Yugumbir State School,’ she says.
The school principal, Daniel Bishop, says a partnership of this magnitude will further enhance the reputation and momentum of the JETS within the 4118 community.
‘We are eagerly anticipating the positive impact it will continue to bring well into the future,’ Daniel says.
‘This partnership is a major investment in the success of our JETS programs and the future of our students.’

He says the school tailors sponsorship packages to suit local businesses that want to help reduce the risk of student disengagement, by offering supported opportunities for physical, social, emotional and cultural success. This ultimately leads to better academic outcomes for students.
The Yugumbir State School JETS Program comprises a range of extracurricular pursuits catering to a range of interests and abilities, covering rugby league, basketball, netball, chess, futsal and instrumental music.
Students in the JETS program compete in multiple events, carnivals and gala days throughout the year.
Daniel says being a part of the JETS offers opportunities for students to build on a culture of elevated standards and has proven to increase engagement, school attendance rates and student learning outcomes.
