Netball upgrades mark Maree’s long service

The new season for the Beenleigh Netball Association is now underway with an unwavering and welcomed guiding light at the helm yet again.

Club president Maree Robbins is celebrating her 45th year with the association, which has more than 300 players from age 5 through to seniors playing walking netball.

The tireless Maree recently received a Certificate of Congratulations, signed by Mayor Jon Raven and Division 12 Councillor Karen Murphy, recognising her enduring service to netball and the youth of Logan.

‘I love to see our kids grow and progress and achieve their goals,’ Maree says.

‘They learn teamwork and the importance of working together to play a role in our community.’

Cr Murphy says it will be a bumper year for Beenleigh Netball with a number of upgrades planned for their Hammel Park headquarters, which will boost the enjoyment and safety for the club’s players.

‘Nine courts will be resurfaced and a comprehensive upgrade of the lights is planned,’ Cr Murphy says.

The works are jointly funded by the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure Program, Logan City Council and the Division 12 Local Infrastructure Program.

‘We are working closely together to get the job done for our local netballers,’ Cr Murphy says.

‘I’m sure the players will be thrilled to see these improvements completed this year, which I hope will help guide them to more victories and unforgettable moments on the Hammel Park courts.’
