How to donate this Christmas in the City of Logan

For many, Christmas isn’t automatically merry: for those struggling with loneliness, financial issues, health problems and more, this time of jollity can seem to amplify difficult issues.

Luckily, in Logan there is a huge number of ways to give back, and make things easier for those doing it tough in our community.

We’ve linked some of the organisations with great Christmas appeals underway that you can help with – and spread some more joy this festive season.

Be An Elf: Make Christmas wishes come true and sign up to prepare a special gift for a local child this year.

Touch of Hope: Support the annual appeal by donating Christmas goodies, such as Christmas cakes and sweets, tinned food, spreads or food. Donations are open until the end of November.

Logan Chamber of CommerceJoin the business community at its annual Christmas Toy Drive event – just bring a children’s gift, unwrapped or in an open bag, which will be distributed on Christmas Day thanks to Logan Emergency Services.

Lighthouse Care: Make Christmas special for many families by donating to the Lighthouse Care cause, which provides free food to families doing it tough through their Hampers of Hope initiative.

Logan East Community Neighbourhood Association: Spread Christmas cheer by donating to LECNA’s annual hamper appeal, which contains items such as canned fruit, kids’ toys, clothes and bags.

Star Community Services: Become a Secret Santa this year for an elderly person who is spending Christmas alone this season. For many seniors, this gift is the only thing they receive this year and is always deeply appreciated.

Defenders for Hope: The annual Christmas gift program allows the charity to purchase presents for children who are in shelters or special care this Christmas.

The Grateful Givers: Volunteers go out and about every Christmas, providing presents to locals and beyond who are experiencing homelessness or doing it tough. The non-profit is seeking sanitary items, toiletries, dry foods and more, along with Christmas Day volunteers.

5Fold and Dunamis Church Yarrabilba: Bring joy and relief to those in the community by donating towards a ‘Hamper of Hope’, filled with intentional pantry items to feed families, along with Christmas treats.

Enriching Communities GreenbankBrand-new and unwrapped gifts are welcome until 15 December, if you’d like to donate items such as self-care essentials, educational items, lunch boxes, water bottles, toys or vouchers for kids that need a little cheer this time of year. Items can be dropped off at various points in Everleigh.

Logan District Elders: Donations of non-perishable foods are welcome and will support the community’s most vulnerable families. If you can assist in any way, please contact Logan Elders on 07 3803 7294 or visit the office at 9-11 Jacaranda Avenue, Logan Central, before 23 December.
