Citizen Of The Year keeps giving

Volunteering is second nature to Margaret Harvey, 83, of Kingston – a long-time Rosies volunteer named Logan’s 2024 Citizen of the Year.

Following in her parents’ footsteps, Margaret has given countless hours fundraising and establishing outreach initiatives to support those experiencing homelessness, social isolation and loneliness.

She hopes to pass this mindset on to the next generation, beginning with her grandchildren.

‘One of my favourite moments was with my beautiful granddaughters, when I took them out with me during Christmas time to see Rosies and how it worked,’ Margaret says.

‘They could see how lucky they were with a good family, warm bed and plenty of food – not everyone has that. It gave them the insight that not everyone is as well off as them and that they can be of help.’
