Peace promoted in Browns Plains

A new ‘peace pole’ has been erected by the Rotary Club of Browns Plains.

Bearing the simple message ‘May peace prevail on Earth’ the pole in Forestglen Park symbolises the organisation’s vision for goodwill between people everywhere.

It also commemorates the 100th anniversary of Rotary in Australia.

Cr Frazer says the pole was a fitting tribute to Browns Plains’ proud multicultural community.

‘This welcomed addition to Forestglen Park reminds all of us to promote peace and understanding not just between nations but also at a local level,’ Cr Frazer says.

‘We can all contribute to a happier and more successful society by acting with kindness towards each other.’

Rotary president David Ng says hundreds of poles, each translated into different local languages, now stand worldwide.

‘Rotary is well-known for supporting peace and we believe this is the right time to put this message out there, while there is war (in Ukraine),’ David says.

‘We want to promote peace not just around the world but within the community as well.’
