Connection, creativity and community at Grounded Village Studio

Now, perhaps more than ever, people are seeking connection – and you can find it in spades at Grounded Village Studios.

The artistic space at Jimboomba hosts a range of activities, diverse in nature but with one thing in common: they celebrate bringing people together in a creative way.

Owner Jess Johnson, who bought the space at the end of last year, after working there since 2020, says the whole objective of the studio is to bring the community together via creativity – whether through a paint and sip class, art lessons, breathwork, music or meditation.

‘We at grounded village want to offer something for every age and every walk of life and really emphasise the “village” part of who we are,’ she says.

‘We are popular in the art space and starting to expand into other things such as sound healings, clothes exchange events, music, drama workshops and bringing new and exciting, different offerings to cater to a broader range of people.

‘When I was fortunate enough to take over this business that I had worked in for so long, I really made note of what the people of the community wanted and taking on all the feedback received – people want different options, different price ranges and new and exciting workshops for kids and adults alike.

‘I love art, fashion, creativity; I think it is very good for your mental health to create beautiful things and to connect with people, On a regular basis

‘This is an inclusive space you can come to and feel happy, it’s for everyone– if you were to ask me to describe our customer, I wouldn’t be able to tell you, from 5th birthday parties to 50th private paint and sips, we offer it all.’

Jess says she loves Community and wants to bring people together, to celebrate creativity, so seeing friendships blossom at Grounded Village is one of the best parts of her job.

‘I do see that regularly and it makes me feel really happy’ she says.

‘People are very community focused here in Jimboomba and always looking out for others. It is a great feeling to be part of it.

‘I also see people coming here from the Gold Coast, Redland Bay, and other areas for their catch ups. People are really aware now of self-care and the importance of doing something that interests you, something that makes you happy, in a place full of happiness.’

As well as a huge range of classes, workshops and sessions, Grounded Village also hires out space for special events and popular birthday party packages, according to Jess, the sky is the limit.

‘Our whole motto is up and up – we are looking into so many other things to offer the community,’ she says.
