Safety lesson for Windaroo Valley students
The Windaroo Valley State High School community has received a head start on school traffic.
Upgrades to the busy pick-up and drop-off zone were completed ahead of Term 1 to help ease traffic for drivers and improve student safety.
New line markings and signs to better indicate bus and loading zones were installed, along with a new 10 km/hour speed sign.
A portion of the existing fence was also removed for the new loading zone.
The upgrades were implemented after the school approached Council looking to improve traffic flow and student safety during busy school pick-up and drop-off windows.
Division 6 Councillor Tony Hall says the upgrades are a reminder for all road users to remain alert around school zones.
‘School zones are notoriously busy during pick-up and drop-off times, and even more so when it comes to buses and parents accessing the same loading zone,’ Cr Hall says.
‘These upgrades will help to create a safer environment for parents and students when they’re arriving at, and departing from, school.’
