Football and rugby league clubs score upgrades

Two Division 9 sports clubs have scored big by securing funding for facility upgrades.

New changerooms with toilets, showers, a large storage space and ramp access will be built at the Jimboomba United Football Club’s Kurrajong Park home ground.

Also, the Mustangs Brothers Rugby League Football Club in Kenny Road at Chambers Flat will receive a field lighting upgrade.

Both clubs have received grant funding from the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Funding.

The projects have also received funding from Logan City Council’s Sport and Recreation Facilities Program.

Deputy Mayor and Division 9 Councillor Scott Bannan says Council is thrilled to be giving both clubs, and their members, a leg up.

‘These great local clubs go above and beyond to make sport possible for everyone, but they can’t do it alone,’ Cr Bannan says.

‘With construction and maintenance costs rising, our local clubs need all the help they can get to ensure their facilities and their infrastructure continues to meet the needs of their members.

‘I’m stoked that both Council and the Queensland Government have come to the party to deliver for our mighty Mustangs and Jimboomba United teams.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing both clubs back out in force enjoying these new facilities once the upgrades are complete.’
