Logan Central youth venue is a special space
An external operator is being sought to run the Wilbur Street Youth Centre, located next to the Logan Central Library.
Division 2 Councillor Teresa Lane says councillors voted to go out to tender to reduce costs on Council’s budget for the running of the exciting new facility.
‘This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the successful tender to implement programs that engage local youth in a premium facility during after-school and holiday times,’ Cr Lane says.
‘The Youth Centre will provide the services that local kids told us would inspire them to attend the facility and activities they would participate in.
‘Once the tender is announced, our local kids will finally have a safe place they can call their own, where they can hang out and socialise with others their age.’
The Wilbur Street Youth Centre will host a wide selection of enjoyable activities designed to keep our kids engaged.
These will range from dance classes and art mentoring to a variety of indoor sports.
Features at the centre include a full commercial kitchen, a rehearsal studio, arts and craft maker space, a technology room, and an indoor multi-purpose court. There is also a quiet room and a First Nations space for connection with Elders.
