Mundoolun boy on global BMX stage

There’s something special about the sport of BMX when it comes to growing up in the City of Logan, with Emilio Martin pedalling towards being the next big thing.

At 12, Emilio has already claimed the gold medal for BMX Freestyle in the Under 13s Queensland State Titles and National Championships.

He also competed in Shanghai last year in the Fise World Championships, winning silver in his age division, and competed in the same annual action sports event alongside the world’s best in France this year.

‘He’s a local Mundoolun kid with big dreams and he’s already absolutely kicking goals in his sport,’ Emilio’s mum Tina says.

Emilio’s talents are also being fine-tuned by attending a high-performance sport-specific school on the Gold Coast.

The young champ is also part of the AusCycling National Academy Team through the Queensland Academy of Sport, which is preparing children now, for the 2032 Games.
