Chevy Bar brings vintage flair to celebrations
Why have a run-of-the-mill bar at your next event, when you could have a 1959 Chevy instead?
That was the philosophy behind the launch of the Springwood-based Chevy Bar, founded in 2016 and taken over in early 2022 by Wayne and Elena Davis.
The couple bought the business after COVID-19 hit them hard, and they decided to buy a Kombi. While researching which Kombi to buy, they started looking at 1950s cars, and came across an ad for The Chevy Bar, which was for sale. They looked into it – and haven’t looked back.
‘The Chevy Bar is all about an experience – the full service of a functioning bar and staff at your event,’ Wayne says.
‘We also provide bar tables, a sound system and lawn games.’
The Chevy Bar is popular at weddings, birthday parties and corporate events and is regularly booked out months in advance.
‘The support from wedding coordinators, community pages online and the local custom car scene has been enormous, and we are always open to showing The Chevy Bar at expos and shows,’ Wayne says.
‘Just this year we will be at Harrigan’s Car Show, Ipswich Rail Wedding Expo and Cooly Rocks to name but a few.’
The work is tough, but the couple agrees it is worth it.
‘It’s not all cool cars and drinking beer in the shed,’ Elena says.
‘It’s long hours and late nights – but would we go back to our regular jobs? That’s a big no way.
‘There’s nothing more rewarding than ensuring your customers are having a great time.’
The couple is currently looking to work with pub owners who want to extend their business beyond their premises and promote their product at beer festivals and expos. Elena and Wayne are also looking to develop Chevy Bar merchandise.
