Build it and they will come - big time
The new kid on the block at Everleigh in Greenbank is growing up very quickly.
It was only September last year when the stunning Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse and AFL field were officially opened.
And the state-of-the-art facility has been metaphorically kicking goals ever since. Milestones include:
- A hugely successful fan day to coincide with the Lions’ first training session of the year in early January Greenbank Giants
- AFC juniors moving in to call the facility home
- Hosting the 4th Everleigh Games Annual Sports
- A finalist for the 2024 Ken Gannon Community Football Facility Award
- The facility’s Eve Café and Bar being crowned the best in Logan
The $6 million project was co-funded by Logan City Council, the Queensland Government, Mirvac Queensland Pty Ltd and AFL Queensland.

Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks says the new stadium has quickly become a vibrant beating heart of the local community.
‘Not only has it provided healthy sporting options for local boys and girls, it has also allowed us to host professional AFL footballers for training,’ Cr Willcocks says.
Greenbank Giants president Chris Luxford says the new facility and clubhouse has been like a magnet to help attract junior players.
The Greenbank Giants club has more than 150 registered juniors, with that number still climbing higher for the new season.
‘That’s a good return on investment to start with, but the value-add is that top-tier teams also want to use this terrific AFL facility,’ Chris says.
