Camera upgrade for community safety

Reducing dangerous driving is an issue the community is passionate about.

‘One hotspot I’m often told about is Magnesium Drive in the Crestmead Industrial Estate,’ Division 8 Councillor Jacob Heremaia says.

‘We all deserve to feel safe on our local roads.’

Logan City Council has installed new safety cameras on a 25-metre pole to record dangerous behaviour in the area.

‘These cameras have the ability to capture evidence that can be shared with police through our city’s camera room,’ Cr Heremaia says.

‘Our city’s camera room is monitored by staff around the clock. ‘This is another step towards stamping out hooning in our community.’

Cr Heremaia says road safety is a top priority.

‘At our recent community meeting, I received positive feedback from local residents about the camera and want to thank everyone who’s contacted me about the issue.’

Report dangerous, reckless or anti-social behaviour on local roads to the 13HOON Hotline (134 666).
