Covella Discovery Trail inspires young learners

A hidden gem in the Covella Estate at Greenbank is a fun activity for the school holidays that is also educational.

An interactive trail and outdoor learning experience has been developed, that takes in 6 different community parks.

The Covella Discovery Trail was inspired by Logan City Council’s First 5 Forever program, which is supported by the State Library of Queensland.

First 5 Forever is a fun and free family-based program that supports children’s learning growth and wellbeing through their first 5 years.

Markers have been placed in each park on the trail. They feature a QR code that directs participants to a range of story time sessions that are inspired by First 5 Forever and put a focus on learning through play.

The sessions use video and audio to invite young children to join Errol the frog as they talk, sing, read, play and dance their way through Covella.

Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks says exploring the trail is an engaging and free holiday activity.

‘As a former schoolteacher, I know how important it is to foster and encourage confident young learners,’ Cr Willcocks says.

‘Taking the family on the First 5 Forever trail at Covella is not only a nice day out, but could also help set up your kids for a flying start to the new school year.’
