New bridge shines in Scott Lane reopening

Scott Lane is nearing completion with the new concrete decks installed at North Maclean.
The decks provide increased flood protection for the local community.
The $6.6 million project at Scott Lane began in June last year to replace an ageing culvert.
Councillor Natalie Willcocks says the new bridge was lifted into position during a delicate 2-day operation.
‘We now have a bridge that will withstand most flood events,’ Cr Willcocks says.
‘Road closures should be less frequent and hopefully shorter in duration than previously.’
‘The new bridge is 6 metres higher than the previous crossing and also has pedestrian access.’
The project was jointly funded by Logan City Council’s Capital Roadworks and Drainage Program and the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewals Program.
Cr Willcocks thanked people for their patience during the works.
